edited January 2012 in General
is it IMPOSSIBLE for ya'll to use each other to help us NOW and not LATER? Comon man......ya'll not THAT big that ya'll can't work on this GAME CHAN---ENDER. This ios not Guitar Center! Aint no hardware to canibalize ya sales if you top ya own beat machine/keyboard with a newer v-synth/fantom all in one mv8800. Or Andromeda/Fusion all in one MPC4000.

We want BM2.2 with SampleTank-ios sounds. When, ya'll? Say it with me!

NOW!

If sampletank supports VirtualMidi you can control it from Beatmaker 2

too much crackling when you use both on the same pad.
    1. needs more power or
    2. bm2 has to allow recording of audio tracks or
    3. alesis has to fix the dock for bm2 to sample without that noise or
    4. st ios needs to support recording of audio.

either way these two are the best at what they are and should have a love child

Well what you are talking about is the overall problem of the iPad developing in to a digital audio platform. These problems are the same problem that we had 10+ years ago when PC DAWs and native processing were developing. It took about 5+ years to really sort things out there and even longer for it to meet analog quality. The iPad is 2+ years old and we have apps like BM2 and Animoog.. We are seriously moving at breakneck speed.

I hear you that you want us to be further along but its going to take time for the HW to become powerful enough and the coders to actually work out solutions and write code. It's coming but this stuff takes time to sort out, especially when you have so many parties involved with so many different ideas on how to tackle the issues..

In the meantime be a musician, get creative and work around the limitations. That's part of the process and you'll find inspiration in unexpected places..

I was informed this morning by Alesis that the io dock input problem is an Ios5 issue that will be solved within the very next update

I would have to respectfully agree with your assessment on hardware limitations, but disagree that the technology is not there...we are only asking for FEATURES, not processing power...Sampletank has all the sounds, great GUI, drumpads, recording...but left out any kind of midi/sequencing editing functionally...BM2 has all of these sequencing functions but the worst sounds i've ever heard(at least you have Virtual midi)...Music Studio has good sounds and sequencer but NO sampler for drums or background play...The capability is HERE it's just that the developers keep leaving out important no-brainer features that everyone else has...I think Genome app can help alot, i've been using it and it's very stable and works great to sequence apps together. Like you said, just gotta be creative until about 3-6 months from now when the future updates get us to a complete workstation.

    from IK Multimedia:
Feel free to petition Intua to license our sounds. We have worked in partnership with many other top brands, like Fender, Orange, Soldano, Ampeg, Authentic Hendrix, and others, so anything is possible.

    Yor move intua!

This sounds very tempting, sampletank is not worth the money without beatmaker functionality.

I think these 2 companies need 2 speak...

I've been working for a few months on a sample library label that I plan to launch soon... I plan on offering the libraries in bm2 format (also in other standard formats off course), taken by the fact I use BM2 almost as much as I do kontakt, ableton live and pro tools, so it comes to me as a natural step to go in this direction.

The first library has been coming out nice and I hope to have it soon... I contacted Intua a couple months ago telling them I was interested in adding a sample from this first library for free in an Bm2 update in the near future and they told me they were interested... The full libraries will be bigger off course and I'll try to make them cheap for you... I love sound design, and by buying one from me you'd be supporting me into making more libraries.

    =0)

    Mobetta

You think you're requesting "features" but you really want to be able to run two resource heavy applications at the same time. Ask anyone who has tried to run Animoog and BM2 at the same time will tell you that the HW just can't do it yet. Keep in mind Sampletank has a fantastic sample engine but it's a resource pig because it was ported over to the ARM architecture from X86.

BM2 has a much leaner engine because it was designed to run specifically on iOS devices.

Rango has hit upon the solution in my opinion. What us sound designers need is an easy way to create and share/sell sample packs in BM2. I have a catalog of sounds and beats that I'd be happy to bring to BM2, if Inutua gave me the tools (a better PC editor and a market place) to do so.

Note input is merely gui programming so all of my suggestions there are doable, as with skinning done by korg on ielectribe over a year ago...these are cosmetic and performance gui features...the tech is more than sufficient as many other apps have this. Changing a sequencers block to a chosen color is helpful for visual arrangement and not so much rocket science versus other things.

Making the exs sample library open in beatmaker...different story...the exs had many things in its engine the beatmaker engine does not have...so your gonna have loss in the translation, and many will not like this much at all. Wokring out a deal with sound designers is a plus. It has been over a year now and not one sound library has surfaced...there were about 15 useable sounds imho to begin with...and there werent enough sounds to begin with. How could intua suffer from licensing ik multimedia sounds...? I dont think they could unless ik multimedia is wanting all the paper or too much of it. Greed kills advancement always.

So features i have suggested ...well, some will perhaps get added and others not... Some of what i asked for may be impossible to do while running all other things in beatmaker2, it is still running on an ipad after all. I have suggested alot of workflow ideas that should be doable though so hopefully intua will find them valid and add them.

In fact not having the (x) on the right side of a text box so that i dont have to back space erase each letter of a name etc is perhaps the most ridiculous thing i have encountered n any app...as they all do this EXCEPT for beatmaker2 how so? Bm2 is the only app that doesnt have it....lol
