I see that sometimes people reply to threads they started very late, which looks like unpoliteness. I had the same in a thread I started myself, which was just because I didn't realize I got a reply until I came back here.
So, maybe it would be good if "notify me when a reply has been posted" is checked by default...
I think it is less annoying if you forget to uncheck that compared to if you forget to check it (at least me I always forget about it).
