beatmaker 2 and modrum clock sync glitch

i'm getting this wierd glitch (at about 0:30 in the video) where the tempo starts jumping and the playhead jumps to random places:

i'm trying to clock sync beatmaker 2 and modrum so that pressing play in bm2 will start playing with modrum (i can get it the other way around, i.e., pressing play in modrum to start playing w/ bm2)
has anybody been able to do this? if so, could you share a screen shot of your settings?
