Inserting new patterns into a sequenced song

Hello beatmakers.  I'm new to this style of song building (former ASR-10 user on an LCD screen). The BM2 sequencer is quite nice, but I can't figure out how to insert a new pattern into my song without replacing an existing pattern on the sequencer timeline.

For instance, I have already sequenced my patterns to create a song, but how do I insert a brand new pattern at the very beginning of the song in order to create an extended intro? Or what if I want to extend the length of a verse by adding additional patterns without erasing over the hook that follows the verse?

I'm sure I'm overlooking a simple function. Thanks for some needed advice!

Highlight all of the patterns after the space where you want to create a new pattern and move them over to the right. You'll be able to draw in a new pattern.

Kadath, that was a huge help. I had been flipping through the manual and learning the sequencer all day long. Now I am understanding the navigation better.
