Volume fluctuates

Noticed today auditioning my song (drums only so far) that when i'm triggering say a bass sample along with it, the song will lower in volume until the sample finished then return to normal volume. Like they're battling for the same sonic space instead of playing same level of volume together. Noticed this at other times as well. Any ideas?

    That can only ever happen if you overdrive the output, which is limited to a fixed integer range.

    Try lowering your master level, or the levels of the individual channels - that should fix the problem.

    Doh - I forgot I had a compressor on my drum machine where all my samples were. That's what was causing it.
