Help required. (app won't update)

edited December 2012 in Support
I posted about the new update last week but my question got deleated by accident.

My update will not install and I can no longer open the app or access Amy of my data. I have over a years worth of field recordings and unique samples that I obviously don't want to lose. I have at least 4gb of memory free so I don't imagine that is the issue. If I have to reinstall and lose my data I will be pretty pissed off. Any advice or tips?

Download i-Funbox for your Mac or PC, go into BeatMaker 2's files, drag them to your computer, delete BeatMaker 2, reinstall it, and drag all your files back into the app via i-Funbox. http://www.i-funbox.com/

I know this method might be a PITA, but it's the guaranteed way to save all your work. Make sure you double check all your files to ensure everything transferred safely to your computer before deleting the app.

HangoverHines, please be VERY carefully with the program DJMKE recommended!
Because I'm searching for a program like this a very long time, I tried it out...
In my case it doesn't work!! Beatmaker files (.bm2) are not readable anymore with i-funbox, like with any other program I tried out...

Beatmaker needs iTunes file sharing!

Last time I tried i-Funbox it worked fine for dragging samples. I'm not sure about the .bm2 files though. You can use an FTP program to drag your .bm2 files out if i-Funbox doesn't work
• Thanks for your responses guys. I will have a go at this at some point but I'm away from my desktop for a while now. I was really getting on the music with BM and getting loads made on my long journeys (one of the main reasons I decided to get an iPhone) but this little hiccup has set me back somewhat and I've missed out on some great sampling opportunities. Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix? There is one drum break in particular that I recorded and haven't played with yet which is priceless. I'd pay to get that sample back let alone the hundreds of other bits I can't get to right now. Guess I'll have to reluctantly play with Nanostudio for until I'm back in town...
• Any other suggestions? If I have to delete/reinstall and lose all my data I'll be put off this app for ever.

Nothing but good luck with ifunbox here. I always keep my files organized by project, preset, samples etc, so it was not hard to transfer. Just be sure that in the bm2 settings that "update database" is checked, otherwise the app won't "see" the transferred files.
If you need more assistance let me know. I just had a hair raising experience just like yours, and trust me ifunbox is better than iTunes file sharing!
• Nevermind. Spent 2 weeks trying to fix this and couldn't. Had to settle for a restore and lost lots of priceless data. Beatmaker2 has just lost a user who's been championing it since day one.

We're you not backing these important file up as you went?
Did you try ifunbox like the earlier poster suggested a while back?
