BeatMaker1 vs BeatMaker2

edited December 2012 in General
Hey now,

I need advice on whether to buy BeatMaker1 or BeatMaker2

I am percussionist in a band and would like to have simple (but quality) sampler/sequencer for use live. I am not sure if buying Beatmaker1 is gonna get me a simpler but functional setup or should I just get BeatMaker2? Seems like 2 is awesome but I doubt I would ever use 1/2 the stuff. Basically I want to be able to record my own samples and maybe use some that it comes with, and play them live with the rest of the band in full groove. I have played with a couple cheaper apps and found a lag between button strike and actual sound that was not acceptable. I assume from what I've read so far that this should not be an issue in BeatMaker. Is that true for both 1 and 2? $$ is not the issue, simplicity on stage is. Thanks in advance for any advice you guys might have.

I would say BM2 since it has so much features and more are added all the time. The sampler in BM2 is also much more better and improved than the one in BM1. Also audio bus wil support BM2 eventually when BM1 may never get audio bus support. Which leaves the decision one hundred times more simple. But thats just my input.

Bm2 may be more than you want to wrestle with as a percussionist live.
I'm going to recommend loopyhd. Super simple and later on you will be able to use it with BM2 via audiobus if you choose to get more in depth.

Thanks for the feedback, Loopyhd looks like a super simple and functional looper, but I am envisioning doing more one shots as opposed to actual loops, so more sampling and triggerpads, and being able to save different kits (I'm thinking so anyway). Looks like if I go ahead with BeatMaker2, I might have to suffer the learning curve, but then be rewarded with much more functionality and audio bus does look pretty nice.

    BM2, no question about it.

    Thanks for the input all,

I did go with BM2 and am blown away by everything it can do. Seems like it will work for me. A little learning curve never hurt anyone! <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->

I am finding an issue with the volume of samples changing on their own, maybe I should make a new post for this issue. It acted different from plugging my iPod touch into computer speakers at home when I plugged it into the mixer on stage. First time sample played normal, re triggering sample played at about 2/3 volume.
