96 mb ipad 2 Memory

I currently run bm2 on 64mb on an ipad 2. I'm about halfway done with a project and I'm up to 63.5/64mb. I was just wondering if I increased to 96 would I experience a lot of crashing on my ipad 2. Or would I be able to run an app in the background? I've deleted all the samples I'm not using. Is there another way to free up space?
