multitrack export not much good

edited February 2013 in General
hello

first, i must say i'm really impressed by BM2 - with audiobus suport there is currently no competitor in appstore for this awesome app... MB2 is really most advanced complex DAW on iOS platform currently available ...

But there are still few points where is possible improvement... one of them is multitrack export...

I found that the way how it works is not ideal... because tracks should be related to mixer tracks, instead of arrange tracks... This is very important because for proper importing project to other DAW (for exaple to auria for final mixing), it is important that all tracks sounds exactly like in BM2. This is not possible, or at least very problematic, with current multitrack export implementation...

Here is example:

Lets say i have one Drummachine in project... for better orientation, in arrange view, i have t 4 tracks of this drum machine - every one for one group of pads (kicks, snares, hhats, perc1, perc2)

But audio from Drummachine i have routed to one chanel, where i have some compressor, ovedrive and eq - i dont, want to route them to individual tracks, i wanna process them together...

Now, the problem is, that because of compressor/ovedrive used on grouped track, all sounds are affecting other ones within group chanel... So result character of sound is different, that is after exporting multitrack - because with current multitrack implementation, instead of 1 mixer track are created 4 indivudal tracks and each one is processed by FX chain independently....

Better one time hear than twice read, here is example ...

This is export of mixer track with drummachine: http://www.dropbox.com/s/9wqwjomo37svjpi/mix1.wav

and this is multitrack export, and then all tracks then back loaded to MB2 : https://www.dropbox.com/s/irwm89jll3ifobj/mix2.wav

Hear that difference ? That is problem... now it is not possible to properly export any tracks, which are grouped and then efected by compressor or ovedrive

I worked in lot of DAWs, and multitrack export is always related to mixer tracks instead of arrange tracks - right because of dynamic processing of grouped tracks..

Please Intua guys, think about this, it will be really cool when it will be possible to change this (or at least have possibility to choose if multitracks should be mixer-based or arrange-based)

Thanks...

This is a very interesting point. I like the idea of having the choice between arrange or mixer export.
