Need BM2 to send MIDI note on

In my setup an ipod touch running BM2 is at the beginning of the MIDI chain. In it BM2 follows Midibus. I record with a PC MIDI sequencer at the end of the MIDI chain. I need the sequencer to be able to record a MIDI note on from BM2 when using the pads. I know I've seen BM2 do this before, so my question is how? Thanks.

EDIT: Don't badmouth BM3.
