freezing tracks

is there any way to freeze midi tracks audio units to save CPU in beatmaker?

Comments

  • Not yet, definitely requested a lot, so hopefully @mathieugarcia gets to it in the future.

  • Almost pretty much the only reason I use Cubasis still. This and Rozeta... and five point editing of audio clips... (cough, totally not dropping in an off topic feature request, cough)

You can try to export as a stem (which has its own issues). Then add the stem back to your project. It’s a bit long winded, but it could do the trick.

  • Add new audio track, arm with your au track and hit record right?

That’s likely the quickest way. Supposing you don’t want your audio on an pad, which probably is the case here 😊

  • But to save resources you would have to unload the AU, so recording is not a very convenient way to freeze/unfreeze.

But you can keep your midi track and just reload the plug if you want to make a change. But I'm definitely waiting for proper freezing along with Rosetta working and general stability

You cant just reload the plugin, you would need to save the preset before you unload it, then when you reload it, find the preset, that is assuming it is one of the AU that supports presets on its own UI, otherwise you would have to save it as a bank, then reload the bank and then copy and paste the MIDI to that bank.
Oh and that all assumes that the plugin hasn't ghosted itself in the RAM (A common issue with AU plugins) so then you will need to close B3 and reopen it too to free up the RAM.

Its a bit of passion killer right now doing it that way.
