Audio starts to blow out and static real bad.

When I start to have multiple instances of AUv3s set onto pads (or too many tracks period) my audio on my iPad Pro 12.9 second gen starts to blow out real bad. It does this even with studio headphones in so my gut is telling me that it is the software. Anyone have any solutions? Workarounds? Thanks in advanced.

  • What’s your audio buffer latency set to? Have you increased it? I’m not in front of my iPad to tell you exactly how to do that.

Unfortunately some plugins and effects are much more resource hungry than others.

The Moog plugins, in particular, will quickly devour CPU.

At some point I would love to devise a system for rating AUv3 plugins according to their requirements. Once a baseline was established we could then test and rate plugins on a scale from 1-10, and list the approx capacity of your iPad model at each buffer setting.

    For example...

You might say that Moog Model 15 requires 7 units

...and that the 2nd gen 12.9 Pro has 25 units capacity at 256ms buffer

    Sound good?
