How to record MIDI from Rozeta to BM3.

Hi. This is a beginner's question.

I'm now running Ruismaker on a track of BM3 and sequencing with Rozeta inserted into MIDI FX. It is OK so far.
However, I can’t record MIDI from Rozeta on the track.

I always record MIDI from Riffer inserted in MIDI FX to tracks. So maybe I think Rozeta can do the same.

I set "PORT" to “ALL” for the MIDI setup of track and set "CHANNEL" to “10”. And Rozeta's MIDI Out is set to ch10.

What is wrong? Please help me someone :'(

  • Not possible without Midi Route https://apps.apple.com/il/app/midi-tools/id1446209019

You can see a tutorial on the dev’s site -

    Thank you!
I’ve confirmed it and was relieved because the settings seemed to be easy.
But I wonder why Riffer can record MIDI to BM3 by only itself :o

  • Not sure, maybe it has midi thru

Interesting! Would like to try it.

Yes that is. I think Riffer is a nice sequencer. However, this sequencer does not have MIDI export function. That's one of the reasons I bought BM3. And now I have to buy another app to record Rosetta MIDI to BM3. This is horrible :s

Thanks @swiper_r_r I'll buy Riffer to see why it's unique. If you know of other MIDI AUs that can record MIDI to BM3 by itself, please let us know.

The MIDI Tools app that bargale linked is a Swiss Army knife for MIDI. It's a suite of multiple MIDI AU tools.

Another option is to load MIDI AUs into Audiobus 3 or AUM & point it to BM3.

    Thank you.

Yes. I'll let you know if I find something.

By the way, Riffer is an important tool for me, but there is another problem.
That is, if it host on BM3, tempo synchronization will be lost immediately.
Apparently this problem also occurs on other hosts, such as AUM.

I haven't looked into the matter enough deeply yet, so my problem could be a simple misconfiguration. And I don't care, I shift the head of the bar in the Riffer and adjust it manually to the tempo of BM3. Then record it out to MIDI and edit the pattern.

MIDI Route is, like you say, one of the suite.
I don't need any other tools in this suite, so I hesitate to buy it.
But I have AUM, what does it mean to point it into BM3?
I tried to insert AUM to BM3's MIDI FX, but it was not selectable.

Could you tell me more about it?

@swiper_r_r Thanks for the tip about Riffer's 'drfit'. I'll read it to see if the dev is interested in fixing it. There have been sync issues with other MIDI AU sequencers, but most of those have been fixed, though it took more than a handful of customers discussing it, posting videos with steps to recreate the issue, forum/social media posts, emails, etc.

Regarding AUM MIDI > BM3 | The Quick & Dirty Method (NO IAA Required):
    A. Enable Ableton Link in both AUM + BM3, with all Link options enabled.
    B. Place Rozetta in an AUM MIDI Channel.
    C. AUM MIDI ROUTING: Rozeta --> Beatmaker 3 Virtual.
    D. BM3 Settings: Enable MIDI INPUT: BeatMaker 3.
    E. BM3: Load an instrument (Keys Mode) to Bank A1.
    F. BM3 Bank A1 MIDI SETUP: MIDI INPUT: ALL.
    G. BM3: Press Record, AUM should play Rozeta, & its MIDI will record to BM3 Bank A1.

Here's a Dropbox link to the AUM + BM3 Sessions.

    Issues:
Several. I'll respond with any questions that you have.

Oh! Thank you so much for the polite explanation! I succeeded in this. And I could learn much. However, this method felt a little confusing to me, a lazy person. Riffer is very convenient because it can send MIDI to BM3 tracks with just one small check in the settings window. I hope that many plugins will soon become this system.

@swiper_r_r What happens if you uncheck 'BeatMaker 3' in your photo above? Does Riffer still send MIDI to BM3?
And is RIffer inserted in the AU MIDI FX slot, or as an AU instrument (on a Pad)?

I ask because Riffer appears to be the anomaly here. In other similar apps, the MIDI OUT PORT page that is present in the standalone app, is not present in the AUv3 plugin. Thanks.

If unchecked, MIDI will not be sent to the track. And here Riffer is inserted in Au MIDI FX slot. If you have any other questions please ask.

By the way, I would like to create an audio track in BM3 for the first time and import a WAV file. But It looks like there is no import command in the track options. Do you know the way to import wav to an audio track of BM3?

That's unique. There's a bundle with Playbeat (AU sample-based drum machine) - I'll probably get that.

Audio Tracks: Drag-&-Drop samples from BM3's Search + File Browser (in the top-left).

Banks/Pads: Samples can also be Drag-&-Dropped from Apple Files App using Slide Over. (This doesn't work with Audio Tracks.)

I'm making one song back and forth between Ableton Live and BM3, So I have to import a 5 min stem into the audio track of BM3.

I was able to import that file from Mac to BM3 using Dropbox. Thank you.

I also watching Playbeat. If It was a drum sequencer that could trigger Ruismaker, I would have purchased it.

I hope Playbeat can help you in your production :)
