Public Beatpack Server --> sonyk.no-ip.org

edited July 2008 in General
Hi gang,

I put up a beatpack server on a machine that I leave on all the time. It's here: sonyk.no-ip.org

I figured this might be useful to until something more official comes along.

Let me know if you have any probs, suggestions, etc.

Go Beatmaker !

Can you create a "chillastyle" folder for me to upload my stuff in to? share it out, but a directory would be nice

I was thinking about folders.. but when you click upload from your iphone/ipod touch, how will you be able to navigate to it ? I've created the folder.. let me know if you're able to and how you were able to navigate

    Great idea!
I just tried to upload my Choices kit onto your server and it seems to have worked. I did manage to download the bass01.wav so that seems to work too. Cool stuff!
Do you have any bandwidth restrictions?
What's your outlook with the server? This could be a great community repository since it is direct accessible.

Now my wish list would be for you to provide us an ftp option so we could upload our kits and wavs via ftp so those people with limited beatpack access can use the public server for syncing. What do you say?

I'm running on a standard cable modem.. so the bandwith is not endless, but it should be fine for such small files.

what do you mean by this:

    > those people with limited beatpack access can use the public server for syncing.

how do you envision that would work ?

who has limited beatpack access (?)

    who has limited BeatPack access?
I was thinking of sitting in a cafe and accessing the wifi network.
I could download a beat kit and work on it.
I could upload the changes back onto the public server.
Some people have restrictive wifi networks at work. They might not be able to get BeatPack to communicate with their iPhone but they might be able to use FTP to the public server. Some corporate firewalls are quite restrictive and you cannot simply open ports at will or even install the programs you want.

The public server would have been helpful for all those MAC users when beta 0.8 was not cooperating with them and they could not upload any kits...

Then there are those people who have no PC/MAC at all but want to backup their work (maybe that's not wanted though...)
Well, it is your server and I am just posting ideas.

I got the same error...for the 909 and rock drum kit...

Yeah, I was getting those same errors with all the drum machine kits that wildpalms was posting down the forum a ways. I get a folder with all the necessary wavs and a file for the project, but for some reason, the project file doesn't contain the wavs like it should.
