First impressions are it's pretty good, nice range of fx, time stretching is well done. But one thing I'm missing so far is to hit a pad and have it loop until I hit it again (unless i'm missing somethin) - 'hold+loop' is there, but for live playing it'd be nice to have a latching 'loop' mode? Anybody seen how to do this? Best I can find is to set the release time to max, or loop it in a track, be good to do this on the pads so I can jam without changing views...
Why do I need an ftp client to upload samples - why not just a web interface like other apps? Ipod import a good idea, but means all your samples have to get mixed in among all the tracks in your ipod. This stuff's not perfect, but it actually works so it's better than beatpack...
I can confirm that bitkinex ftp client on pc works with this. It just means you'll need to update the ftp address every time you use a different network. Maybe there's a technical reason for this - who knows?
Well, I've been tooling around with this for about 1.5 hours, and I have to say that the folks who have been blowing smoke about BM2 being a NanoStudio killer must have had a more stable beta version than the finished product I'm working with. There is a LOT of crashing going on. With only 2 tracks running (1 sample loop and 1 synth loop), I've had it crash on me 3-4 times. Different things seem to do it; jumping to the X/Y pad from an effect, messing w/ time stretching, etc. There's also several things that need attention, in terms of preference settings, etc.
For example, the size and double-row settings for keyboards should default to your last chosen config. I don't want to have to save a new load out, just to keep this how I like it. Also, there's a LONG way to go, across multiple areas, in terms of previewing sounds and samples when loading them in.
There's a lot to be said for this app. I love the time stretching, chopping and effects options. Very nice indeed. The synth seems, on the outset, to be lacking vs. NanoStudio, but that may just be the inferior presets; I still need to go deeper. However, the pre-loaded drums / piano / strings / mallets (etc.) samples are better than Nano's. With a bit of tweaking and patching, BM2 can definitely take the crown, but Intua needs to show more diligence on the maintenance end than they've shown on the customer service end. That's for sure.
It's a shame you can't export seperate track wavs in one go, but realistically it costs less than a gig ticket!

I haven't had any crashes at all yet - in fact it's been pretty stable doing anything I've thrown at it, including playing sounds across several banks of the drum machine and having a synth bassline with 2lFO's, all with fx running.
At the moment I prefer the synth in BM over nanostudio - seems to be able to do weirder sounds once you start playing with the lfo's.

I can't tell you how much it disheartens me to say this but I'm experiencing the same thing. Before I go on, here are two virtual thumbs WAY, WAY up for everything I've explored so far, and I've barely scratched the surface of Beatmaker 2. If these bugs are soon squashed, this bad boy will be the new benchmark for iOS music apps for a long time. Hands down. It's slick. It's fast. It's easy to navigate, easy to play, and extremely intua-tive (Sorry, couldn't help myself <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> ) compared to the competition.
But yeah, that's where the good news stops. I learned the new layout in a matter of minutes (because it's amazing). Everything's going seamlessly and smooth; I'm menu-hopping at lightning speed, head nodding, getting my groove on, and...BOOM! Hello, home screen. I'm not going to type an unkind word about Intua because the amount of work they've put into this app is abundantly clear. But with its $20 price point, and tagline containing the words "most advanced music workstation," as opposed to say, "most fun music app," I think these issues need to be addressed, and promptly. Thank you.

Use Beatpack to put them to your desktop then Use the FTP feature in BM2 to load them back in... And use filezilla FTP [FREE]
Host # is the number you need to get in to the FTP.. Remember that the last four numbers after the colon, is the port number and everything before the colon, is Host.. User number and password are default to [intua] but you can change it to whatever you want..

Intua, please add Dropbox syncing of project files to BM2 for those of us with multiple iOS devices!

Try iphone explorer for the heck of it.. It's stable and no need to go wifi.. straight through the cable.. Quicker too..
