I'll waiting first price drop
See you in two years... As good as this app is, I don't expect it to go down for a long time... Well too worth it.. This app is well worth over a hundred dollars.. And if you ever bought an MV8800 or an MPC, then 19.99 is basically free..
also when i go to track settings to delete a track it won't let me?
High light the track, and hit the yellow [X] tool at the top right.. before the tool icon..
Oh wait.. track settings right? If it's the only track, it won't delete, cus the instrument resides there..You'd have to delete the instrument from the home page. now if you add an extra track to that instrument, then those extra tracks can be deleted from the track settings page.. this is normal functionality..
So I know I don't post a lot on here, in fact the last time was like 2 years ago or something, but I have been using BM1 since it came out. I purchased BM2 today and all I can say is wow. This app is amazing. I cant believe how much easier it is to use than BM1. Everything is so friggen easy. I have NS and Korg on my iPad, but wow Intua, you guys did a hell of a job on this. I, like all the others was pissed off about the wait, but now I see why it took so long. This takes the cake in my books.
To be honest though, I have had a few crashes with BM2, but all I do now is save more often, especially before applying bitcrusher or any filters. Ive only used it for about 30 minutes and have a nice basic track layed out and am very happy. This will definitely keep me busy for a long time. Overall, BeatMaker2 has made my year and its really just beginning. Thanks Intua! You definitely earned my 20 bones.
Looks good , I can't wait to get it and try it out!!! It looks like with BeatMaker 2 I will be able to make MPC Quality beats for 20 dollars , That's a must buy!!!
How do you change the master volume?
Can you change the position of fx in the chain?
Can you save presets for the fx?
Thanks,
-distraub
Im going to answer this but please put all further questions on the BM2 support forum.
1. On homescreen of BM2 select the mixer (its the knob icon up top)
From there you can raise the volumeof the different instruments. There's no real master volume as of now.
2. In the sequencer go to the sequence you wish to alter, then select the "auto" tab on the bottom right. From there find the fx you'd like altered and draw or select to your hearts content
3. As of now I don't belive you can save fx presets.
Hope I helped. Again please place all questions in the BM2 support forum. Thanks.
errr - for 2. I think he meant that you can do it. basically drag it to where you want it to be in the chain and it should move...
you can't but what you can do is setup an effects block with presets the way you want, then save as a project.. then you can start off a project with that one being a template, and Save As another project... The downfall is you can't call this setup in the middle of a session.. you'd have to start with this template project all the time you'd want that setup.. Not exactly what you want, but something none the less...
Oh man Sept! That's thinkin out tha box. That's why your my official wingman dude Haha. Seriously though, thanks. You help out alot on the forums. Especially in light of BM2s release.
I have to say that my first impressions of the software are of a mixed feeling. The potential is there, definitely, but at the moment it just doesn't feel polished.. nor does it feel very thought out either. I might be basing my speculation completely wrongly but listening to the "demo" songs one immediately gets the feeling that whoever has been alpha/beta testing this program doesn't have that much experience in creating music with a modern DAW (not that beatmaker tryes to be one). They are extremely simple demos and quite frankly, horrible. Each and every one sounds like a "my first song!!" kind of thing. This leads me to believe that some of the problems with beatmaker are caused by the lack of experience of the testers (or even the creators?).
First: Auxiliary FX. Why on earth call it auxiliary FX if it doesn't function like one? A more correct term would be FX group or buss. There are no Aux sends in the mixer nor any sends for individual samples in the drum machine. I feel a bit betrayed by this because it is mentioned in the video and marketing as AUX fx. It is NOT.
Second: Tons of small annoying things like knobs/sliders being very coarse, making it virtually impossible to set finer values. Again, this makes no sense on a touch screen type of thing. One can program parameters to respond to how fast you drag the finger over the screen, thus easily controlling how fine or coarsly a slider or knob should move. This is easily noticed while using effects like the overdrive, where the response of the gain slider should be curved, not linear!! You want fine values in the 1 to 5x range and from there on it doesn't really matter if you set 50 or 60x as the sound is already incredibly distorted by then. It's very hard to use the overdrive as a subtle fattening effect as it is now, caused by the coarse sliders making it impossible to set values exactly the way you want them.
Third: Knobs.. why on earth do knobs have to be moved from SIDE to SIDE when the almost universal way of using knobs in DAWs, hardware touch panels etc is UP - DOWN direction?? Again, have none of you people testing the software actually used any other hardware/software with "virtual" knobs? This is especially annoying in the drum machine where most knobs are found at the left border of the screen, reducing the space you have to drag stuff around. This is of course a minor nitpick but still.. it just adds up to the feeling of beatmaker 2 being unpolished.
Fourth: Why hide basic play/stop controls under a separate tiny "sub-menu"?? At least give us a dedicated play/stop button which is always visible in the sequencer!
Ok, enough of negative points. In the end they are all just a matter of small frustration but never the less, still important. There is no doubt that BM2 is potentially the most full featured music creation software in the app store and once it is completely stable, it'll be a force to be reconned with. The future looks bright as it seems Intua does update their software over quite a long period of time (bm1 was updated until the end of last year, right?). I wish you all the best guys!
can anyone post some video Review for BM2? im always searching in youtube for some video of this app, but all i can see is INTUA videos, i think there are still few people that already have this app? please upload some videos tutorials and some song compose ty in advance!
and i hope this app wont be able to use on a JB or jailbreak idevice just like the NanoStudio have implemented, they have like the error thingy that will popup when you dont have the real copy of the app, cause this app is really worth to buy, and i really like to see people that buying this app to use not by downloading this app or copying or pirating this app to use, cause if people like this app they should buy it!
p.s. im still learning how to use the app, but im sure it will be more easy to use it if it will be compatible with the SS25? i hope they will come up with a update, and yes i had already Crash but only 1 time, by playing the fx im really a fx addict i really like to find some strange sound but idk what just happend it just crash and my compose song just vanish in seconds, cause i havent saved it yet, btw im using iphone4 , and can anyone please make some tutorial and upload it on youtube, im really hoping for some people to upload some videos for this app, cause i really love this app, just a little bit more tweak and it will be a beast!
@intua: Hey no problem. I hope I wasn't too brutal. The post reads pretty negative but like I said, I very much believe in the potential of BM2. There's another little design flaw/niggle that I found a few minutes ago:
The ADSR envelope of each drum pad does NOT remember it's settings if the ADSR is turned off. This is not very good because it makes it impossible to A/B compare a sound with and without the ADSR.
If you want and I have time I'll write a detailed list of small niggles that could potentially improve the flow of the software. I've been alpha/beta testing music software for well over 10 years now for almost all the major players in the field.. probably because I always find stuff to nitpick about. A lot of coders hate me.. for sure.
Hoping it was worth the wait. We need some reviews...I won't have a chance to grab it for a few days
I think I actually might wait and see what the reports are like on it, if there's any bugs I guess I could wait until they get fixed...frustrating bugs only make me dislike software so would rather read some reviews and see first.
Do i need to buy the app to read the manual or is it online somewhere? Would really like to check it out.
You release BM2 on the day when my internet is throttled? Argh!
490mb... I'm not complaining as I know tasty samples shall reside within, yet this wait is torture!
(iPhone is tethered to computer, 4 hours remaining... )
EDIT: I've just dug out my 10 meter powered USB lead and put the iPhone on the window sill... 66 minutes remaining now, huge difference!
Will do thorough review... was a big fan of the first version when it first came out, I work in a music store, we used to sell Yamaha QY-70's and other portable devices, but things like BM on iDevices are the future.
1.CoreMidi
2.Automation for almost everything

Number 8 just makes the rest invisible to me.. I like all the features, but the flow of that machine is rough.. I know it's not as powerful, but I had the ipod version for awhile.. deleted it, although I did like the sound of it.. I instead stuck with NS.. iSequence will allow you to sync and be part of DAW.
To me, everything else does not matter.
As it is, BM2 is just a toy...

Toltek does bring up some good ideas though..... No you don't.
I can use molten, ims29, crystal, Nano, etc; with Cubase or Live in perfect sync.
I Can NOT implement BM2 into my existing setup.
As I said before - Bm2 is a toy, I'm afraid...

small thing to many but very important to me as I need to write tunes to a very specific length ( :30 / :60 sec spots)
Thanks!
