Any polyphonic Instrument recording and playback is weird and stunted.

When I play any polyphonic synth or instrument the sound is normal, but when the recording is active, and I play notes, they sound like 16th notes and not legato, also not arpeggiated in time. The WEIRD thing I can’t for the life of me figure out is that the midi notes and the velocity are exactly what I played, legato loong and short; Normal. But when it’s played back the sound plays in different velocities and sometimes even dissappears. I can recreate the same problem on any bank, loaded with a polyphonic instrument. When I use a monophonic synth, it sounds perfect.
What could it be? I can’t find others with the same problem or any hints in the manual.
Should I upload a video of the problem?
