eleckain,
great call on the note repeat, but the mpd32 doesnt send any midi from that button, nor the tap tempo or time division button, (which is a shame as it would be sweet to have another bank of buttons)
intua can we have export options other than 44.1/16bit? seems like without some sort of dithering we are losing low level detail.. (dither is the elephant in the room over at Auria's forum.. no one ever talks about it.. what a shame!)
Also, i always sample at 48khz, and would like to be able to keep that resolution. Not asking for 96k or anything, just the ability to export at 44.1/16bit or 48k/24bit
Too bad note repeat on MPD, sure any other button can be used for it. Personally I would like to see a toggle not only a on/off (classic mpc style) others may want a on/off. Give us both in fact - stick in into the midi assignment panel. In fact you should add a general midi control assignment.
I've recently begun using BM2 on live gigs, primarily for the pads, and there are several improvements that would be helpful:
1. As others have mentioned, velocity sensitivity would be great (but it must be defeatable).
2. Along with velocity sensitivity would be velocity zones for pads, so that different samples could be triggered within a given velocity range. Two or three zone levels would work for my needs, but others may want more.
3. I'd like the option for a larger font text label on the pads, and the ability to center the label on the pad. I'm getting old--it's hard to see the current labels on stage. Might also be useful to choose a color for the label. (I like the idea of colored pads as well.)
4. Along with #3, it would be nice to override the sample file name with a custom pad label.
5. Copy/paste entire, individual banks, and save them.
6. As others have suggested, import multiple samples in a single operation.
7. The compressor needs a gain reduction indicator.
8. Some mastering effects, such as a multi-band compressor and a limiter.
Thanks. If any of this is already available and I've missed it, please let me know.
A Pro effects setup. I'm not going to get specific, you know what I mean. We see pro-quality UI layouts and sound quality in many other apps, so obviously it's possible. Intua please, it's time..
- quick load sample browser and regular load sample - intermittently only left channel previews. i need to test this more....
- load sample browser the folder structure is opposite of the quick sample folder structure,(top to bottom of the screen) . Also the auto play should be enabled by default.
- in both sample browsers the preview needs to be monophonic, or at least have an option for it. If I am using longer samples, it gets counter productive waiting for the previous sample to play before hearing a new one by itself.
- a midi activity monitor would be nice -
-skins for the drum machine
Ios vst support via ask wavemachinelabs how to do this.
Your keyboard synth needs a rewrite of its patch design system
Your file system needs to clarify where things are being saved, it also needs to be able to rebuild songs when reloaded much much better.
I know audio bus is coming...but its not here yet so i will say audiobus
I want groove templates from slices
I want a real standard swing feature that can use these templates
I want granular synthesis of samples
I want sample modern mode pitch, time, formant...this will make for smaller better sounding patches
I want the keyboard to have some kind of velocity entry system...anything at this point would be a good step
I want the mixer faders to grow...not shrink
I want to be able to not have to do 7-10 steps before recording an audiotrack...thats just weak
I would love...i mean absolutely love to see RESAMPLING direct to a pad or key
If you cant add ios vst....then your effects need replaced by something way way better...and something with presets.
The ipad isnt going to be wonderful running both auria and beatmaker2 (in theory) at the same time...so audiobussing to auria from bm2 is most likely going to be shaky imho. Having to copy and paste all the time to utilize real effects processing is already a sh*t process. Fabfilter plugs in Auria just eliminate a person from wanting to use anything else in other apps period ...but we'll see, it is a new year
I suggested it several times here, but didn't help. I really cannot undestand, how this nonsense could survive up to current versions.
Can we please have a way to move files and folders around within the app? That'd be greatly appreciated!
you can, with dropbox send the files to a directory inside dropbox, then navigate to the directory in BM2 u want to move em to, then move 'em back from bm2
takes a while but it works....
i'd really like to see bm2 projects be all be 1 file instead of the bm2 files and all the samples/midi files separate....
"real time time stretching like Ableton Live's Time Warp"
This is a big deal..there is currently nothing on ios that allows for formant based beat marker audio retiming. I would pay a hefty sum for even a stand alone app for this
I currently us LoopHD to jam with, then arrange in BM2....could really use ability to clean up my timing via ableton like timewarping.. I'm aware that I can record and edit midi, but this is a bit clumsy right now since without audiobus I must record into "sunrizer" then audio copy out into BM2.
I do live dub and am looking to make beatmaker my main live playback device. however to implement all my hardware and fx boxes as id like for maximum creativity i need a multi output soundcard support (like auria) plus my mixer. If you guys can implement this on a future update it would be the icing on the cake. Serious.
1. I'd like to be able to export each pad as its own file..that way when I want to mix in my DAW I can have each drum element on its on track. I know this is possible right now by soloing each pad and then exporting...not that is a long process.
2. I'd like to see Beat Maker 3 come out this year.
Id like to see the audio tracks a little further developed, sometimes they are out of sync a little at first, like samples being triggered. As far as major features Id like to see added, I would like to see a synth added, something that could mimic analog style synths and digital. The sampler is fine, love that you can multi layer it, but id like to see a synth added. Now this may be asking a little much, but if you could have multi sequences , like with an actual MPC, where you can work on different sequences then arrange them is a song mode. And some more effects, maybe as in app purchases. a couple guitar amps and stomp boxes. Audiobus would rock. Some type of pitch correction would be awesome. Thats about all I can think of right now.
I havent memorized all the things needed or wanted...so be easy if i repeat a feature.
A visual eq system via pro q or similar!
(It is my opinion this will be much quicker and easier to use on a touchscreen)
An included editor for keyboard patches, or a way better system to drag and drop build on the ipad.
A file system that lets you know where you are saving, and puts sequences back together right...also a sample locator that finds samples needed for a project.
A much improved filter system
A much improved reverb
A much improved delay
A much improved amp/cabinet/distortion
Audio tracks that need much less set up
The ability to save template projects and effects patches
A sample editor that includes sonogram editing
A realtime pitch, time, formant engine (especially in the keyboard) ie modern mode samplewiz.
A sampler that moves chunks easier than slidy dealy...something more garageband or auria
Longer faders
Sharing with others is just not good...its in need of much more development
There needs to be a system for velocity of some kind...whether a thumb strip, whether via actual velocity or whatever...too many things have the ability to add feeling thru velocity...beatmaker does not.
If the keyboard sampler came at the process with two or three oscillators it would be a synth...with very little design effort.
I do understand about people with giant man hands...but i still think beatmaker clunkily uses screen real estate.
I have noticed something after using impc...sorry its a competitor...even though it really shouldnt be in its current state...impc has a better hotter more robust hardware like sound than bm2...and really at the end of the day its about sound quality of a final project.
- when editing files in the browser, it would be very helpful to be able to select more than one file at a time. The ability to move files without having to Dropbox would also be great
- I would certainly pay extra for an mp3 encoder on export, to save time and bandwidth sending out rough mixes via Dropbox
-audio files should reside in a folder named "audio tracks" inside the project folder- or give the user the choice of where to put them
- ability to name audio files after recording... Or name them after whatever the sequencer track is named automatically
-need iTunes file sharing- FTP is very slow for big transfers and is unreliable, and Dropbox is about 80% reliable
-It turns out I like having the decimal places in the tempo- but we need the ability to enter the tempo numerically from time to time
-make the mute/solo buttons in the mixer available to control via midi
- a more robust compressor (with visual feedback pls!), and the addition of a brick wall limiter
Improved filesystem that allows me to save things where I want to...not all over the place, because I must be aware of where I am all the time in the system
metering? fft? its totally do-able
a sequencing gate effect! or a sequencer that drives the effects with 16 or 32 steps
said sequencer could also be an arp
name and store effects and effect chains
quicker audio track assignment and creation...or ability to clone your tracks
one the effects are improved and the filesystem is better this thing is an absolute beast!
Beatmaker 3?
I would like to see a programmable arp...step sequencer
I would like to see genuine audio tracks
I would like to see a great sample/resampling sound engine with pitch, time, and formant
- allow for drum machine tracks to be exported to wav by pad and not only by track
ie. track with kick, snare, hat, toms etc. export each into a track and not only 1 track
2. Along with velocity sensitivity would be velocity zones for pads, so that different samples could be triggered within a given velocity range. Two or three zone levels would work for my needs, but others may want more.
4. Along with #3, it would be nice to override the sample file name with a custom pad label.

- slave to beat clock, solid comparable to an MPC3000 or 4000, we know midi sync works polysteparp developer has demonstrated that
- chop shop and auto mapping to pads needs to linked ie, create markers and the slices are automatically mapped to the pads. This will allow to go back and adjust slices
Can you please add the option to hide the pitch wheel? It's taking almost a quarter of the screen estate for something that most people dont use very often. Maybe even add a full screen option for the keyboard? At the moment Im using FL Studio to play parts in BM...

Only when one needs to edit the file, convert to wav..

+1
can apps do that?! i thought only the photos app could access the files on the cck
Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
The ipad needs access to its own file system in a terrible way
Does anyone agree?

ya, just a file explorer would be nice, there are apps on the app store that do it already but one built in on iOS doesn't seem too much to ask.
i'm no developer but there's gotta be some way to make that happen without making iOS completely open
